Thirty Years of Think Trees New Mexico
Just over thirty years ago a couple of idealists (Robert Cox & Bryan Suhr), after hearing Al Shigo and others talking about trees and their care at NUTS I, National Urban Tree Symposium in Denver, thought about doing something similar in Albuquerque. Selling the idea to the director of the Bernalillo County Extension offi ce, John Chappell on the need for this program and his agreeing to provide the support to develop the concept of a local conference about urban trees and their care was providence. With no real idea of what needed to be done and without even a mailing list to contact our potential audience, the seed for the ideals behind Think Trees were planted and have grown to what it is today. We, the conference and board are here because of your ongoing support of those ideals that our trees deserve the best possible care that committed professionals should provide.
